Friday

Friday Dec 28th
Well, we made it (finally) but the boys’ bags didn’t.  The airport attendants said that they would mail the bags to Swaziland either tomorrow or Sunday…fingers crossed!  Until then, I took them to PEP, a cheap clothing store, where they were able to buy t-shirts, boxers, and socks for under $20 – total!  I told them they could share my clothing, but they weren’t interested :)   Hopefully their bags arrive soon.

After all of these years making the trip – this travel experience was definitely the longest.  But it was amazing to see Pam’s smiling face at the airport (love you Pam!) and Amilcare was ready to take care of us.  We’re now in the car, with Amilcare as our captain, on our 5 hour drive to Swaziland.

Recap: 3 hour drive from Indy – O’Hare + 1.5 hour flight from O’Hare – Washington DC + 9 hour layover + 12.5 hour flight from DC – Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) + 1 hour layover + 5.5 hour flight from Ethiopia – Johannesburg + 5 hour drive to Swaziland + 8 hour time difference = Annie needs a shower/bed…and to figure out what day it is :)
