Day 15:
Every time I’m in Swaziland and blogging, I constantly get emails
from Give Hope, Fight Poverty supporters asking how they can help. There are many ways for you to help!:
1.
We need your luggage!! Every time we come, we bring bags of donations to the
kids and leave the luggage behind for the kids to use as shelving (VERY
creative kiddos!). If you have any old duffle bags, backpacks or roller bags, we would be happy to take
them off your hands!
2.
We need your old cell phones!! Safety is a big focus for us regarding our
children. If you have old but functioning unlocked cell phones we can
insert Swazi sim cards, purchase Swazi USB cords and give them to our
child-headed households.
3.
We need medical
supplies!! Even children’s vitamins,
band-aids, or sanitary pads are hugely helpful… but if you have access to
other medical supplies like N95 masks,
gloves, slings, braces, syringes,
plastic disposable speculum, or other medical instruments – the
understaffed and under-resourced rural Swazi clinics would love your support!
4.
We need funding
– dolla billz! They say that it takes a village to raise a child… but leave out
the part about all of the expenses! We have over 1,300 orphaned children in our
GHFP network and they all are in need of things that cost moolah.
You can donate online: www.ifightpoverty.org/donate.html
or you can mail a check made out to GHFP to 2436 N Alabama St, Indianapolis IN
46205. We can even designate your funds
to a program or child of your choice if something particular struck you from a
previous blog… or we can put it toward a most immediate need.
Siyabonga (thank you!) for your
love for our children. Yesterday, I was
standing at our Malindza New Hope Primary School gazing off into rolling green
of endless mountains and subconsciously rubbing one of our little one’s
backs. Then I sense fighting and look
down to see that there are children who are strategically trying to push him
away so my hand inadvertently starts rubbing their back instead. I think about how much a small touch means… I
encourage you to consider coming to Swaziland with us and making a difference
in our orphans’ lives. They are waiting
for your embrace…
