Day 6: Pre-school goodbyes are hard…especially when you hear
“teachers don’t go!”
It’s our last work day (tomorrow is all play with our
kids!!) and the group voted to go play with the pre-schoolers again. We taught them about animals, taught how to conquer
puzzles, played a matching/memory game, and they painted “Thank You/Siyabonga”
cards that are now on sale 5 for $10. (With Christmas coming up, you will need
these! Stamped with GHFP and info about the kids who have painted them): http://www.ifightpoverty.org/donate.html
Afterward we delivered food to Siphesihle – one of our most
food scarce child-headed families. We’ve
been so sad that our trip is almost over and have been reminiscing on our
favorite moments. Mine was at the
pre-school when it smelled like one of the little kids perhaps had pooped their
pants. Angie and I were deciding the
next most appropriate move and we decided that maybe Angie should follow suit
so that the kid was not embarrassed… One more day. We are all sad….
